This would have been a far better story that what we had gotten. What we got, was the spiral that led to me finally and completely being OUT of STAR WARS and so, I did my own video about WHY I am no longer a Star Wars fan.

Star Trek: Insurrection is an amazing movie as is. At a surface level the Enterprise crew become valiant whistleblowers while defending the private property rights of a minority. In true Star Trek fashion the story doesn't focus on war, as Star Trek is historically anti-war, but instead focuses on the secondary consequences of war - the erosion of first principles, as exemplified by Starfleet's willingness to circumvent the Prime Directive. Insurrection would've been better served had Nemesis been a sequel with Picard learning of Section 31's involvement in the Baku Relocation Scheme.

About the only thing I think was done better in this version was the fact that Iron Man incidentally stopped a common robber. That would have been a great addition to the movie we got to help cement WHY the public thought he was a hero. Apart from that, while this was a pretty good script, I just think the final version did it better.

I would have loved to have seen this version. Love Tom Criuse. BUT Glad we got Robert Downey Jr playing Tony.

That's interesting about retired Tony Stark played by Clint Eastwood or Paul Newman. Both were also considered as Bruce Wayne for the Batman Beyond movie that was being developed in the early 00's.

Iron Man '08 is a perfect film, but this actually sounds pretty good, especially compared to other '90s CBM treatments.

Gilroy saved Rogue One. It’s essential to the film and A New Hope that the rebels sacrificed a great deal for the Death Star design flaw to be leaked. The entire series deeply need a gravitas that was sorely lacking. The original Star Wars trilogy was reluctant to kill off ANYBODY important leading to jokes about stormtroopers bad aim. In Rogue One, we get a build up of meaning that carries through to the original series, enhancing it. Killing off important characters is precisely what made the first few seasons of Game of Thrones so riveting as well. That only works if you have enough new characters to come along and strong world building and plot to keep audiences engaged.

"Cruises asking price was astronomical." Given the monumental success in the *Billions* of dollars, was it really tho? Are you sure about that?? And given how much of phase 1 and phase 2 were supported off the back/strength of the success of Iron Man 1, whatever number Cruise wanted is probably reasonable. Also look at the success MI franchise and TG: Maverick has had. Cruise playing Stark might've actually been the best thing for the MCU long run and we would have most likely got much more practical effects and real-life stuntwork in the MCU instead of CGI soup that all the films turned into.

I personally would love to George Clooney as iron man. He is perfect doing the billionaire playboy persona and hes naturally charming. It would be funny if either Brad Pitt or Matt Damon would be cast as a villain maybe justin hammer.

Iron Man versus MODOK would have been interesting. Maybe one day we could see Tom Cruise as Iron Man in Secret Wars. Him interacting with a RDJ Iron Man variant would be cool.
